What do you do when all the big dealerships who sell your cars are all forced to shut down? You open a really small one, of course.

The ‘World’s Smallest Dealership’ was created to launch Volkswagen’s new small SUVs in Australia during a global pandemic, driving people to buy them online.

The dealership toured some of Australia’s most iconic landmarks, promoting the small SUV range and prompting users to literally ‘step inside’ this completely new retail environment. Using a QR code, they could experience an immersive AR representation of a full-sized dealership.

The 28cm tall interactive activation was an exact 3D replica of an actual dealership and even featured screens running Volkswagen TV ads. it generated a mammoth $36 million in online sales.
